An Inspirational Office Boy- “Tomato Story”

A jobless man applied for the post of office boy at a very big organization. The employer interviewed him, then gave him a task to clean the floor. “You are hired, give me your e-mail address, and I will provide you the application to fill, as well as I will guide you when you start filling it up” the employer said. The man replied, ‘I don’t have a computer nor an e-mail address.’ ‘I am sorry’, said the employer, “If you don’t have an e-mail, you can’t have the job”.

The man left with not even a ray of hope in him. He didn’t know what to do with only $10 in his pocket.

He then decided to go to the supermarket, buy a 10 kg tomato crate, then sell the tomatoes door to door. In less than two hours he succeeded and doubled his capital. He repeated the same thrice and returned home with $60. The man realized that he could survive this way, and started to go early everyday and return late.

Thus, his money doubled and tripled every day. Shortly later, he bought a cart, then a truck, and then soon he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles. Five years later, the man’s company was one of the biggest food retailer in the town.

He started to plan for his family’s future and decided to get a life insurance. He called an insurance broker to choose a protection plan. When the conversation was concluded, the broker asked him for his e-mail. The man replied: ‘I don’t have an e-mail’. The broker replied curiously, ‘You don’t have an e-mail, and still you succeeded to build an empire. Can you even imagine what position you would have had in case you had an e-mail?’

The man thought for a while, and replied, “an office boy!”. The broker was awestruck by the response.

In my opinion, a person should have a positive bent of mind even if he starts from zero. He should be ready to do even the smallest of works with dedication.
And, I assure you that the whole universe will conspire to help that person to achieve his dreams and will open up new paths for him.- Amit Masih
